HiddenMickeys -> Disneyland Resort -> Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney is a 20 acre shopping/dining/entertainment complex between Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. It has 300,000 square feet of retail space and is broken into several "Districts", each with it's own distinct style.

These Districts are bound together by a garden motif that runs throughout all Downtown Disney. Although it was originally Disneyland's parking lot, it now contains thousands of shrubs and plants, as well as over 500 trees including some very large "Shade Trees."

The East Garden District

Craftsman Architecture The East Garden District is closest to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure in the Central Espalande. It's style is inspired by early-20th century "Craftsman" architecture. The Grand Californian Hotel serves as the backdrop for the La Brea Bakery and Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria and also serves as home for World of Disney.

The Wine Bar District

LA Art Deco West of the East Garden District sits the Wine Bar District. Named for the wine and tapas bar at it's center. It's architecture is inspired from the old Los Angeles Art Deco style buildings of the 1930's in Westwood Village and on Wilshire Boulevard. This district's center piece is Cafe Catal.

The Center Plaza

At the heart of Downtown Disney lies the Center Plaza. The different clubs and restaurants that call the Center Plaza home set it's eclectic architecture and atmosphere. There is a "Bird of Paradise" fountain in the Center Plaza.

E. B. Effects created the Birds of Paradise aorund the fountain and around most of Downtown Disney.

The West End Garden District

La Miniatura The West End Garden District is accessed via a pedestrian bridge across Disneyland Drive. This district re-visits design of the Wine Bar District. Right behind the Monorail station is Downtown Disney's Rainforest Cafe patterned after houses like La Miniatura that Frank Lloyd Wright designed and built in the Los Angeles area in the 1920's.
