NEWS: Horizons at Epcot was closed on January 9, 1999, presumably to make way for the oft-mentioned space pavilion to be sponsored by Intel.
Well, I think that just about covers that. Now on to Mission Space... It will actually be sponsored by Lockheed Martin (so long as they don't get nervous and pull out). Our original design was to be a flight simulation vehicle on a track with multiple inversions, etc. The motion would be real, but all of the visual stimulation would be simulated. Basically, it would just run around the the empty shell of the old Horizons building, which was to get a tiny facelift, but WDI Finance looked at our specs and said no way! It woul've run us upwards of 150 million to do it, and they've already spent twice that on GMTT! So, it's back to the drawing boards for the next few weeks. If you have any ideas, feel free to let me know. We were all kind of set on the coaster/sim, 'cause it had never been done like that, but hey, what can you do?
