The following is a listing of what is planned, currently under construction or newly opened
at Walt Disney World. This information has been compiled from a number of sources. If I left something out
that one of you folks out there might know about, then please
share it with the
rest of us.
Due to the attacks on the United States
and the concern for guest safety, Disney security is inspecting all bags before you are allowed to enter the park.
In Jan. 2002 for about four weeks, Splash Mt. was closed for a full rehab.

The next major construction of
a new attraction in the Magic Kingdom will be 2002 and this will be at the 20,000 Leagues
area per Greg Emmer, president of Magic Kingdom.

I too have heard rumors that there will be new construction at the old
20,000 leagues site and that disney might be thinking of putting in a
mermaid ride where you go around the area in shell boats being pulled by
sea horses. this work will probabaly start in late 1998.

The ride at 20K Leauges Under the sea will be: a) Journey to the center of
the Earth. OR b) A ride about the upcomming movie, Atlantis.

I heard that the old 20,000 Leagues will be turned into a new ride called
Ariels Undersea Adventure.

The Ultimate Guide to Theme Park Rumors (which
can be accessed through thrillride.com recently posted some information
relating to the Subs replacement, indicating that guests should "get ready to
fly." It was mentioned that an inverted coaster might be installed in
Fantasyland, but the theme is not known.

Not sure how new this is, but they have replaced the "20,000 leagues Under the sea ride" for the "New Fantasyland Character Festival." According to a cast member, this is a temperary bandaid, while official plans, and construction get on the way for "Ariels Underwater Adventure."

Imagineering has hired a construction team to build
the new E-Ticket ride in Fantasyland that will replace 20,000 Leagues.
Interesting huh the ride design is ready but no one is sayin what it is except
that it is a thrill ride of some sort.

The 20,000 leagues under the sea ride will be transformed into Fire
Mountain. The mountain and lake will be transformed into a smoldering
cauldron and lava pools. Inside the mountain will be an inverted looping
roller coaster. The opening will be 2001-2003. Construction to begin
real soon!!!

A huge roller coaster in side a smoldering volcano to be built where the
20,000 league lagoon is. The ride is based on Disney's next animated movie
Atlantis

Two new "mountains" are in progress. One mountain will be based on Disney«s Villains, maybe will be called Bald Mountain and the place would be near Ariel Grotto«s in Fantasyland.

There is rumour of a new land called Shadowlands and it would be in front of Fantasyland and will
extend in the behind 20k Leagues, the theme of the land would be about Disney Villians and the
main attraction is suppose to be Bald Mountain and it would contain a big splash which will take
place in the lagoon where 20k used to be.The ride is supposed to be finished in 2003.
