  2. The keys behind the desk at the Grand Floridian are the original keys used by the Resort. When Disney switched to programmable magnetic card door keys, they decided to leave the key shelfs in place as part of the decor. If you are really nice and you speak to a Cast Memeber, they may give you one as a souvenir.

  7. If you want to see some extra large bass, go to the Narcoose's resturaunt at the Grand Floridian. If you look over the edge of the deck in the water you will see some HUGE fish. Ask the waitress/hostess for some bread and you will see how large they really are! Disney won't allow you to fish for the bread eaters, but take an excursion and you will catch some similar in size, b/c disney stocked the lake to the fullest over 30 years ago and you catch 5-10 fish per excursion (per person) it is insane!

  8. About 5 Years ago, my family had dinner plans at the Narcoose's Resturaunt on the Grand Floridian grounds. Upon our arrival at our reservation time, we opened the door to walk in and were followed by a mother duck and 3 duckings. They were so cute, and were scurried out, in a nice fashion, by the hostess. Well, upon traveling back to Disney 3 years later, I was telling my husband about the duck encounter at Narcoose's, and we had plans to eat there again, and this time we came across 4 grown up ducks all standing around the front door of Narcoose's! This leads me to believe it could have been the same friendly ducks, hanging out for the excellent cuisine!

  9. The new poolopened the same time the new volcano pool at the Polynesian opened. As you exit the main building, go right, past the outside bar. It sits there. The beach runs up to it. It basically sits next to the monorail track. It has a slide built into a rock-type formation.

the new pool was awesome, despite the dreary weather the waterslide was attracting 4 year olds to 40 year olds. Actually more adults than kids, the trick to pick up speed on that slide you have to pick up your legs in a crouch position, otherwise the material it is made out of slows you down. The lifeguards yelled at us, but everyone got the hang of was almost as fun as hanging at the pool bar! The center pool was not finished yet, so that was the main attraction area.

  10. The most maneuverable boat operated by Magic Kingdom Watercraft is the ferryboat. The boat is 120 feet long, and weigh nearly 300 tons, yet╩the boat can be rotated 360 degrees╩on it's own axis, it can move completely sideways and it╩can even round corners...sideways. During training, pilots are usually taken to the Grand Floridian dock and told to plant the bow╩a few feet off the dock, then "walk" the boat sideways, turn it around the corner of the dock and then "walk" it sideways down the side of the dock.╩Guests are usually surprised to see this manuever and it╩was alot of fun to do. The ferryboats can also be driven through the narrow waterbridge channel, with only about 8 feet of clearance on each side during the most narrow part. Each ferryboat must make this journey at least once a week to go to drydock for fuel. This╩manuever is also a very fun thing to do.
